Position Summary
The Process Development Engineer develops, tests, documents, and implements new or improved manufacturing processes for Doxprint’s specialty printing and finishing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate new manufacturing processes.
- Conduct production trials and document results.
- Establish process parameters and operating requirements.
- Develop prototypes and production samples.
- Analyze process performance.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Create work instructions and process documentation.
- Support new-product introduction.
- Assist with production scale-up.
- Work with Quality Assurance to establish process controls.
- Investigate process failures.
- Evaluate equipment, tooling, materials, and production methods.
- Support continuous-improvement projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with manufacturing process development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience conducting process trials.
- Strong technical documentation skills.
- Ability to work closely with production personnel.
Preferred Experience
Experience in printing, converting, specialty manufacturing, packaging, labels, or other precision production environments.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
This position divides its time between an office and the production floor. The essential functions typically require the ability to:
- Walk and stand on the production floor for extended periods, and sit at a computer for extended periods.
- Lift and carry items weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Use a computer, keyboard and standard office equipment.
Time on the production floor involves exposure to operating industrial equipment, moderate to high noise levels, and inks, solvents and paper dust. Required personal protective equipment is provided and must be worn in production areas.
