Position Summary
The Perforation Technician operates and maintains equipment used to create controlled perforations and other specified physical features in printed products.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate perforation equipment.
- Review production specifications and approved samples.
- Accurately position materials.
- Perform test runs before production.
- Verify perforation location and consistency.
- Inspect finished products for defects.
- Maintain production and inspection records.
- Properly account for materials and production waste.
- Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance.
- Report tooling, equipment, and quality problems.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Qualifications
- Experience with industrial finishing, printing, converting, or related equipment preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work with measurements.
- Ability to follow production specifications.
- Commitment to quality and safety.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
This position works on the production floor. The essential functions typically require the ability to:
- Stand and walk for most of the shift.
- Lift, carry, push and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance or lifting equipment for heavier loads.
- Bend, stoop, reach and use the hands and fingers repeatedly to handle materials and operate controls.
- See clearly at close range to inspect printed materials and read specifications and measuring tools.
The work environment involves operating industrial equipment with moving parts, moderate to high noise levels, and exposure to inks, solvents, adhesives and paper dust. Required personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and hearing protection, is provided and must be worn.
