Position Summary
The Guillotine/Cutting Machine Operator prepares printed materials for finishing and shipment by operating industrial paper-cutting equipment. Accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail are essential to this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate industrial guillotine and paper-cutting equipment.
- Review job specifications and cutting instructions.
- Accurately position and align printed materials.
- Perform test cuts before production.
- Verify dimensions using appropriate measuring tools.
- Inspect finished pieces for accurate dimensions and clean cuts.
- Monitor production waste and material utilization.
- Maintain production records.
- Perform routine machine cleaning and operator maintenance.
- Follow all equipment safety procedures.
- Properly handle and account for production materials and scrap.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling customer documents.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating industrial cutting equipment preferred.
- Strong measurement and mathematical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to follow detailed written instructions.
- Ability to work safely around industrial machinery.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
This position works on the production floor. The essential functions typically require the ability to:
- Stand and walk for most of the shift.
- Lift, carry, push and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance or lifting equipment for heavier loads.
- Bend, stoop, reach and use the hands and fingers repeatedly to handle materials and operate controls.
- See clearly at close range to inspect printed materials and read specifications and measuring tools.
The work environment involves operating industrial equipment with moving parts, moderate to high noise levels, and exposure to inks, solvents, adhesives and paper dust. Required personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and hearing protection, is provided and must be worn.
