Position Summary

The Hologram/Optical Security Features Technician supports production involving holographic, optical, and other approved specialty features used in labels, certificates, documents, and authentication-oriented products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment used in the application or processing of specialty optical features.
  • Prepare materials according to production specifications.
  • Verify positioning and appearance of applied features.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
  • Identify defects, misalignment, damage, or inconsistencies.
  • Maintain production and inspection records.
  • Follow procedures governing specialty materials.
  • Assist with equipment setup and routine maintenance.
  • Work with Quality Assurance and Production personnel.
  • Support testing of new specialty-feature production processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary production information.

Qualifications

  • Manufacturing, print finishing, specialty application, or related experience preferred.
  • Excellent visual inspection skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow highly controlled procedures.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This position works on the production floor. The essential functions typically require the ability to:

  • Stand and walk for most of the shift.
  • Lift, carry, push and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance or lifting equipment for heavier loads.
  • Bend, stoop, reach and use the hands and fingers repeatedly to handle materials and operate controls.
  • See clearly at close range to inspect printed materials and read specifications and measuring tools.
  • Distinguish colors and fine visual detail to inspect printed features, including under magnification or special lighting.

The work environment involves operating industrial equipment with moving parts, moderate to high noise levels, and exposure to inks, solvents, adhesives and paper dust. Required personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and hearing protection, is provided and must be worn.
